Language Exams at Bede's Summer School

Bede's Summer School offers a number of intensive exams courses to allow students to obtain a professional language qualification to certify their English level in preparation for future academic study or for their future career.

All exam courses include dedicated exam preparation instead of regular English lessons and students will also take the exam during their Bede's course.

Intensive exam courses include :
- Cambridge B1 Preliminary (Bede's Lancing) - exam on 25 July 2025
- Cambridge B2 First (Bede's Lancing) - exam on 24 July 2025
- Cambridge C1 Advanced (Bede's Lancing) - exam on 25 July 2025
- IELTS (Bede's Brighton - Pathways to Higher Education) - exams on 19 July and 2 August 2025

The Cambridge and IELTS exams are two of the most widely recognised English language proficiency tests, each serving a slightly different purpose. 

The Cambridge exams, assess a candidate's ability to use English in real-life situations, with a focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking. These exams are often used for academic and professional purposes, such as going to university, as well as for immigration requirements. 

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam is specifically designed for those planning to study, work, or migrate to English-speaking countries. We offer the Academic version of the exam which is globally recognised by universities and employers as well as governments for visa purposes. The IELTS result is valid for two years from the test date.

The two-week exam courses will focus on building confidence and competence in the four key areas assessed by the exams: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. They will aim to familiarise students with the exam format, strengthen their language skills, and develop effective strategies for each section of the exam while equipping them with key strategies to excel on test day.
