FAQs
01
Is there a deadline to book a place at Bede’s?
There is not a deadline, we will accept bookings as long as we have a space available for your nationality/language (our target is about 20%). Our smaller centres such as Eastbourne, Royal Hollowayand Brighton can fill up quickly, so it is better to book as soon as possible.
02
How can I pay for the booking?
You can pay by debit or credit card in GBP or in your local currency
Alternatively, you can send a bank transfer. We must receive the full GBP amount.
03
What happens if I need to cancel my booking?
You can see our full Cancelation Policy in our Terms and Conditions of Enrolment, but to summarize, if you cancel:
- 42 days or more prior to course start date, there is no cancellation charge and your deposit will be refunded
- 29 to 41 days prior to course start date, there is a £600 cancellation charge, your deposit will not be refunded
- 8 to 28 days prior to course start date, the cancellation charge is 1 week’s fees.
- 0 to 7 days prior to course start date or after the course has started, full fees are payable and there is no refund.
04
Do I have to pay extra if my child’s flight arrives very early in the morning or very late at night?
Transfers are included in the fees from Gatwick, and Heathrow airports and from Eurostar train stations on arrival and departure days at any time of the day. We advise you to book a flight to arrive between 10:00 and 17:00 but there is no extra charge if your son/daughter arrives outside of these times.
05
Can I book an Academy while my son/daughter is already at Bede’s?
Yes you can, as long as there is a space. We need to receive full payment before the academy starts.
06
Do you accommodate special diets?
Yes, we accommodate any special diet in all our centres. You just need to send us full information of your child’s dietary requirements in advance so that we can be prepared.
07
Can my son/daughter sleep with his/her friend in the same bedroom?
We try to mix nationalities in order to enhance their experience and improve their English. In this case, we recommend they sleep in the same house or on the same floor as their friend, but not in the same bedroom. Accommodation requests are always taken into consideration, but are subject to availability on arrival and cannot be guaranteed.
08
Managing Students money?
Parents should set students up with prepaid currency or debit cards designed for juniors in advance of their course. Bede's Summer School aims to be cashless for both administration and security purposes. Having a card linked to an app or online account means that parents can also monitor spending, add extra funds if a student is running low or freeze/cancel the card in case it is lost.
09
What happens with my son/daughter’s medication?
If they are taking medication, they must hand it in when they arrive. All medication must be kept safe in the Centre Director’s office and not in students’ bedrooms. We will accept medicines prescribed by a doctor from your own country, as long as there is an English translation. Medication is given to students at the prescribed time by an authorised member of Bede’s staff, usually the Welfare Manager or Nurse

My son is 12 years old, but I want to enrol him at a centre where the minimum age is 13. Is this possible?
No, I am afraid it is not possible, even if the student is more mature or has friends enrolled in the other centre. We need to be consistent with the course information that we publish and we are not able to make exceptions. All students must be within the published age range on arrival.
