Bear Grylls Adventure Camp12-17 years
Step into the wild and learn to survive like Bear Grylls! Hosted at our Dicker location, this action-packed course teaches young adventurers essential outdoor survival skills, from building shelter and mastering fire-making to navigating with orienteering. Along the way, kids build resilience, teamwork, and confidence before putting their new skills to the test in the Ultimate Challenge.
Students can choose between two dynamic course options:

Language and Adventure Camp: Combines morning language lessons with afternoon Bear Grylls Survival Academy tasks, evening social events, and excursions.

Complete Adventure Camp: Replaces morning language classes with extra adventure-based activities, such as High Ropes and Archery, alongside the full survival programme.
The Programme
English Skills lessons are designed to improve students’ general language skills, extend their vocabulary and better their understanding of grammar, to improve accuracy when producing spoken and written English.
Aims

In these dynamic lessons, students will work together on real-world “missions” designed to build collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, and communication. Through engaging group challenges, learners strengthen both their language proficiency and essential 21st century skills, preparing them to thrive in school, work and beyond

thinking can overcome any challenge. His mission is to inspire people—especially young adventurers—to be brave, resourceful, and never give up.

Young explorers will dive into the art of navigation, learning how to read maps, use a compass with confidence, and recognize natural signs like the sun, stars, and landmarks to guide their journey. With hands-on practice in orienteering, students will take part in fun yet challenging missions that mimic real-life exploration, from charting routes through “jungles” to overcoming unexpected obstacles along the way
Dive into adventure and build essential survival skills! Students will learn teamwork, problem-solving, and safety techniques as they practice water and land rescue strategies. From building and navigating rafts to mastering survival basics, this hands-on activity combines outdoor fun with practical skills that could
one day save lives.
Adventure awaits deep in the wild! In this exciting survival skills module, students will learn how to find their way through unfamiliar terrain using maps, compasses, and natural landmarks. Guided by real-life
exploration techniques, they’ll practise essential navigation strategies that build problem-solving, resilience, and critical thinking. Working together in teams, young adventurers take on jungle navigation
missions that challenge them to plan routes, make quick decisions, and stay calm under pressure. By the end, every explorer will have the confidence to step off the beaten path and navigate the world around
them—just like true survival experts.
Survival isn’t just about navigating the wild—it’s also about staying safe and knowing what to eat. Bede's Bear Grylls adventurers will learn the basics of identifying safe wild foods, understanding the importance of clean water, and practising simple ways to prepare and handle food outdoors. Alongside this, they will
gain essential first aid skills—how to treat cuts, scrapes, stings, and sprains, and what to do in an emergency until help arrives.
A full programme of organised and supervised social events is offered every evening to encourage students to make new friends and develop their social skills. By actively encouraging the mixing of nationalities, we are helping to create a harmonious international community in which students can live, study in a safe and comfortable environment and enjoy themselves.

Excursions are a mandatory part of the programme. We offer students the opportunity to visit places of cultural and historical interest, as well as the chance for sightseeing, shopping and amusement.
Wednesdays
Wednesday trips are a half-day visit and may involve visiting a local place of interest in a nearby town or an off-site activity, such as Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Country Park, Indoor Rock Climbing, Museum, Pier, Street Markets.
Saturdays
Saturday excursions are a full day trip and include a cultural, touristic or recreational visit to London or another place of interest such as British Museum, Buckingham Palace, London Dungeon, London Eye, London Zoo, Madame Tussauds, National Gallery, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Thorpe Park, Tower of London, Westminster Abbey.
Sundays
Sunday excursions are often more relaxing trips to a local seaside town, such as Brighton, Chichester or Worthing, where students can stroll along the beach, have lunch in the park or do some shopping. Sometimes students will partake in off-site activities.
Dates & Fees
The programme runs for 4 weeks in total, from 04 July to 31 July 2027 in Dicker. Students can arrive on any Sunday and depart on any Saturday.
The recommended minimum stay is two weeks. To maximise the benefit of your experience, you should consider a 3 or 4 week course.
The fully-inclusive course fee is £1,875 per week for a residential course. This includes a return transfer from selected airports (see Terms & Conditions) and travel insurance. Day course is also available for £1,275 per week.
The Course
Age range 12 to 17 yrs. Maximum 24 students per week on Bear Grylls Adventure Camp and maximum 250 students per week from different countries in Dicker. Limits for each nationality to ensure a good mix.
Bede's offers two course options tailored to students' ages and interests:

Language and Adventure Camp: Features morning language lessons, followed by an afternoon programme of Bear Grylls Survival Academy tasks, evening social events, and mid-week and weekend excursions.

Complete Adventure Camp: Replaces morning language lessons with adventure-based activities—such as High Ropes and Archery—alongside the full afternoon Bear Grylls Survival Academy tasks, evening social events, and excursions.
All recreational activities organized by Bede's are mandatory and included in the course fee.
There are 12.5 hours of lessons per week including English Skills and Mission Possible. Maximum 14 students per class. Weekly progress checks to monitor students' performance.
5 levels are available, from A2 (Pre-intermediate) to C2 (Proficiency). Complete Beginners and Beginners are not accepted on this course. Placement test on Monday with a multiple choice, writing and speaking components.
Bear Grylls Adventure Camp is available as a day course and runs from 08.30 to 17.00 Monday to Friday (18.00 on Wednesday) and includes a half-day excursion on Wednesdays. Students may add evening activities and the Saturday and Sunday excursions if they wish (supplements payable).
The centre
Astroturf Pitch, Drama Theatre, Forest School, Gym, Indoor Swimming Pool, Playing Fields, Sports Hall, Squash Courts, Tennis Courts, Zoo,
Bede’s staff provide excellent care for students 24 hours a day and live in the same residential areas as the students. Dedicated House Parents look after the students in each boarding house. Excellent staff:student ratios (typically 1:4). Individual attention provided. There is a surgery led by a qualified nurse several times a week and access to a doctor if required.
For residential students, all meals are included in the weekly package price and students can expect a healthy and wholesome breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, served in the Dining Hall. A morning and evening snack is also offered (fruit, cake, mini sandwich, juice, milk). Day students enjoy a morning snack and lunch on campus. Meals are a mix of English and international dishes and vegetarian option is always available. Special dietary requirements are accommodated.
Wi-fi is available in most communal and accommodation areas. Students can make and receive wi-fi calls. Laundry is done for students at least once a week. 24 hour emergency contact service for Parents.
Transfers from/to Heathrow, Gatwick and London City Airports and St Pancras International Train Station are included in the fees between 09.00 and 18.00 (10.00-17.00 for St Pancras). Students are met by Bede's Staff and Bede's Airport Coordinators provide extra care.
