Candidate Profile

We are seeking a highly organised, creative, and responsible Enrichment and Cultural Programme Manager to join our Bede's Summer School leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, preparing, and overseeing a dynamic, educational, and fun enrichment programme for our international students.

You will lead the activities team—from recruitment to daily management—ensure the smooth logistical execution of all events, manage our specialist Academies, and play a crucial role in student welfare as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). This role requires proactive planning, commercial awareness, and the ability to ensure all centres and activity resources are fully prepped well before the summer begins, guaranteeing an unforgettable and safe experience for our students.

Qualifications

  • a PGCE in Sports or Physical Education desirable
  • a Level 1 (or higher) coaching qualification desirable 
  • a valid First Aid Certificate desirable 
  • current Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) certification or willingness to complete this prior to starting
  • Previous experience specifically within a UK-based EFL summer school environment
  • Computer literate and excellent computer skills 
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality handbooks, booklets, and detailed activity plans.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a track record of successfully planning, booking, and managing complex logistics, excursions, stock and risk assessments
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and reviewing costs 

Experience

  • We need a strategic planner who thrives in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. You should have:
  • Proven leadership or management experience within a summer school, camp, or similar educational setting.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with a track record of managing complex logistics, budgets, and risk assessments.
  • A deep commitment to student welfare (current DSL certification is ideal, though we will provide training for the right candidate).
  • Excellent communication skills to write detailed guides and motivate a large seasonal team.
  • A firm understanding of how to tailor activities and cultural trips to diverse age groups and nationalities.
  • Experience in staff recruitment, training (including induction delivery), and team management.

Compensation

This is a Full Time, Permanent position, working Monday - Friday along with Summer School weekends, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Working Hours

This is a Full Time, Fixed Term position, working Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week from May 2026. The working day will usually be from 8.30am to 5pm. However, during busier periods there may be a need to be flexible.

Working Day

This is a varied, fast-paced, and highly rewarding role. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing the Programme: Research, design, and book a comprehensive, age-appropriate programme of excursions, activities, and workshops well in advance of the summer.
  • Creative Oversight: Produce the official Bede's Summer School Activities and Social Programme Booklet and maintain the staff Handbook.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and directly manage our Activities Managers and Leaders. You will also help run our comprehensive summer staff induction.
  • Safeguarding First: Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), complete robust risk assessments, and rigorously vet all external Academy providers for strict compliance.
  • Commercial & Logistical Management: Maintain strict financial oversight of the excursion budget, manage complex transport logistics, and oversee programme stock.
  • Quality Assurance: Actively quality control the social programme throughout the summer to ensure delivery meets our exceptional standards.
